Martin" Date: Thu, 02 Sep 1999 11:52:52 -0700 I have just read (by myself--school doesn't start for me until next week) The Pain and the Great One -- Judy Blume (Picture book--all levels?) The Chicken Doesn't Skate -- Gordon Korman (4th grade reading level?) The first part of "The Pain..." is from the big sister's point of view, the rest of the story from the little brother's. Each chapter in "The Chicken..." is told by a different character as the book relates the story of a chicken who may be killed by a boy as part of his science project but which comes to be well-loved by most of the students. I think both of these would be good for voice. After reading them to my students I will have them choose the last disagreement they had with someone and write a letter to themselves from the other person explaining the other person's point of view.
