From: "Susan Nixon" <susan@desertskyone.com> Date: Mon, 13 Sep 1999 16:25:06 -0700 We've just been joined by a high school teacher, Joyce Butler from North Carolina. Originally, I know we had a couple of high school teachers on the list. Joyce is interested in finding out more about 6Traits and I've given her the web site, but if you would like to write her about your experiences, please e-me for her address. From: "Susan Nixon" <susan@desertskyone.com> Date: Mon, 13 Sep 1999 16:28:43 -0700 Hello, all, Most of us have been in school from one to three weeks now. I posted = about starting with voice. Any one else tried a lesson yet? I'm finding that = the Writer's Workshop and the 6 Traits are going together well. Of course, a teacher's best friend, Conventions, seem to come up first. =3D) We talked a bit about the editing marks, and when I looked at the = available marks (a couple dozen at least!), I decided that my second graders really only needed take out, capitalize, don't capitalize, the caret for = inserting material, and a circle for misspelling. If they notice missing punctuation, I told them to just put it in. Any other thoughts on this? I will begin the inservice in my school on Sept. 28. Any suggestions for changes from the online course? Also, does anyone know of any workshops on 6Traits in Massachusetts? I would greatly appreciate any information!
