We've been tracking hurricanes for = the last 15 years on a map of the East Coast with longitude and latitude = lines. We track several and compare them with other years (when I can find my records) Nobody is unskilled when we are done with the hurricane season. = Try it, Especially if you are on the east coast!;-) There are many fascinating websites. Ann/5th/Maryland Parenthetically, this year was rather special. My youngest son is at = school in eastern North Carolina. Immediately after Floyd, they had an = encounter with a water moccasin during their boat rescue of a fellow student and = then withstood the absence of food at the dorms for 2 days. They had been told = by emergency people to stay put at his college in Greenville, NC, as it = seemed all the roads from the coast to I 95 were washed out. However, with = their city of 150,000 shortly to be electricity-less due to the rising Tar River = only 4 blocks away, he and his roommates, advice notwithstanding, packed = up their frozen food, loaded up the jeep, and , by way of several detours, headed for the mountains on the other side of I -95 (which was flooded = out). They had become convinced that time that the time had come to leave. It = took them 5+ hours, but they made it to Ashville. PHEW. I had to tell someone; It's a mom thing!!...A water moccasin!! Ah youth. My daughter is a freshman at ECU. She lives in Tyler. She made it home Wednesday night before the flood. Any word on the shapeof the dorms. The power is out so I can't access the website for info. She is home but is concerned with flooding on campus. Where did your son live in Greenville?
