Here is the beginning of a report writing packet you could use with your
students. This was originally written by Jane Malone, a teacher in my
district. I have modified it somewhat. I just used cut and paste from
WordPerfect, so no doubt there will be formatting errors. I'm sure you
can cut and paste into your own word processing program and clean up the
spacing. Susan =3D)

Dear Reporter:

You should refer to this checklist before you write so you can plan
properly, while you are writing so you can be sure you are including all
the right things, and when you revise and edit your work, to be sure it
sounds and looks its best. Continue working on your report until you can
honestly answer, =93Yes!=94to each question.

Dear Peter Rabbit,

I'm so sorry I ate your dessert. But I could not help it.
I was hungry. Gingerbread is my favorite.

Sincerely,

The Fox

Dear Peter Rabit,

Somthing hapined to me. I fell asleep and the cow ran away.
The shep ran away. I was sad. Can you help me?

Dear Peter Rabbit,

I'm Little Red Hen. No body will help me make my bread.
Peter Rabbit, will you help me?

Little Red Hen

Dear Peter Rabbit,

I was having a nap when I smelled something good.
I came down to see what it was. I saw a tuffet and
little Miss Muffet.

I came down. HER HAIR WENT UP LIKE ROCKETS, and
her eyes blew up. Booooom they went! She fainted!
She was too big to carry, but the tuffet was not.

I had a good lunch, but Miss Muffet did not. Peter Rabbit,
I could get one for you, too. I want to tell you more. I will
come to your house. If you don't see anyone, don't shut the door.
I will hang by a string.

Your friend,

The spider
